WAR Zone is simple to learn. When you finish this tutorial, which takes about 15 minutes, you will have a clear picture of how an event works and a full understanding of your responsibilities.
Almost everything at WAR Zone is taken care of for you. From start times, to matchmaking, to notifying athletes; everything is handled by our system or by our staff. The only interaction that your staff will need with WAR Zone is entering weigh-ins and running the scoreboards.
If you have laptops and monitors available, then you can display the customer-facing scoreboard at each mat (recommended); if not, the event can run entirely on cell phones. Events that use laptops with monitors run more matches/hour and submit fewer mistakes.
- We initially provide ESTIMATED start times for every wrestler.
- These times change dynamically every time someone registers.
- At a designated time (typically at 4 pm the night before the event), we will FINALIZE start times.
- Once start times are finalized, all customers will receive text messages/emails with their exact weigh-in time, start time, and end times The event schedule is now very precise.
- Competitors can still register after times have been finalized, but there is a $10 late fee.
- Each wrestler gets their own weigh-in time. There will be a steady flow of wrestlers weighing in throughout the day, in equally spaced intervals.
- Each wrestler will receive a notification when it's their turn to weigh in.
- No one is allowed to weigh in early.
- Once weighed in, each athlete will receive a notification confirming their weight.
- Weigh-ins will be open most of the day.
- Competitors request matches from their cell phone (they can also ask the scale worker to do it for them).
- It typically takes from 1 to 15 minutes to be paired in a match. Matches will be well balanced based on age, weight, and skill.
- The person who selects the match-ups for each competitor is called the "Pairings Master". This role is typically handled by the WrestlingTournaments.com staff and is not something that you have to worry about. If you would like to handle your own pairings, give us a call and will can train you or one of your people.
- Once paired, competitors will receive a notification telling them who they are wrestling and which mat to go to.
- The match will also show up on the corresponding mat-side table worker's laptop (or cell phone).
- Once a match is completed, the ratings of both competitors are updated and the athletes receive a notification with the result (to make sure that it is correct). The wrestlers can now repeat the process if they would like another match.
- WAR Zone competitions are typically for development, and not focused on winning an event, but it is still nice to provide children with some something for their hard work. There are many ways to handle rewards, but we suggest the following system, which incentivizes them to wrestle more:
- Gold medal - complete 5 matches
- Silver medal - complete 4 matches
- Bronze medal - complete 3 matches
- Gold medal - win 3 matches
- Silver medal - win 2 matches
- Bronze medal - win 1 matches
- You can create your own award system, or not do awards at all, it's up to you.
- How can I display all of the upcoming matches on a monitor or projector?
- Create a new staff login (with tableworker permissions).
- Log in and click "Upcoming Matches Display".
- Zoom in/out to fit the desired number of matches per page.
- It will cycle through all of the upcoming matches.
- What should I do next?
